Angry Birds Explore is Rovio's augmented reality app, built by Zappar: a 3D island full of Angry Birds attractions that brings the Angry Birds world into your living room, with mini-games, face filters, animated content and AR episodes. The app features characters from The Angry Birds Movie 2, its mini-games include Worm Garden, Pig Out! and Pig Shy, and scanning BirdCodes on official Angry Birds merchandise unlocks extra content.
The app soft-launched in Finland, Spain, Portugal and Russia at the end of May 2019, and the official trailer announced it as out that July. Zappar developed it on ZapWorks between 2018 and 2022, optimising it to run on as many phones as possible and splitting out content so it could be updated over the air. Zappar reports millions of downloads and plays.
Ollie worked on the app in 2019 as a developer at Zappar, building AR games for it in TypeScript.

I'm a creative technologist with 10+ years in AR. My filters have been viewed more than 32 billion times across TikTok, Snapchat and Instagram, and I'm a Snapchat ambassador. Through my company, tnySocial, I build custom apps, games and AR for artists, influencers and brands, made to fit their brand and their audience. Before that I built AR campaigns at Zappar and led AR development at Poplar Studio. From London, based in Los Angeles.
